YES ME TOO. why is this bandwagon so long-lasting? because it is super fun. why have I not produced my own until now? because I was super busy for the whole month of August and the beginning of this month too.
shut up. I loved making this. for all, like, five nights it took me to do it. I am super incredibly proud of it.
of the folks I watch and admire, first *zambi made one. and then ~mopinks. and then ~Applefritter. and they were all so awesome. (although ~burgertime has the best one I have evar seen.) SO I BLAME ALL OF YOU FOR THIS. I also blame Okami, which Dan played for me a few months back, and I still have not gotten the loveliness out of my system.
but I also have to thank *zambi because she has been up with me every night when I start screaming about programs and pixels sucking. >_> Dan has weathered a whole lot of it too. "FAWNSLAUGHT" is just one of his wonderful contributions. x3

I want to try and do one of this pixel IDs. I wonder if you could help.
I have Jasc Paint Pro Shop 8 and I have not a clue at doing pixel IDs. So do you have to draw your pixel person free hand on the computer or somthing.
And how do you add the pic in the backround. I have found a pixel blank template. I just need to put somthing on it. I have read up lot about it but all the info is for photoshop.
I know you don't know me but could you tell me step by step on how to do this pretty please with sugar on top.
then I started working on the actual lines in black. still very rough. as I finished each line to my satisfaction, I removed excess pixels to make a neat, 1-pixel-wide line.
cleaning up a sketch in MSPaint like this and removing all the turquoise is very easy. you just pick turquoise as your color and use the paint bucket tool to fill in the shape. then use the paint bucket tool to make it white. if you click back and forth between turquoise and white, inside and outside of the outlines, eventually you won't have any turquoise lines left.
that probably doesn't make any sense. @_@ but here's what I wound up with when I finished the line art:
then I moved to Paint Shop Pro. I used Paint Shop Pro 6, which isn't as advanced as PSP 8 (I imagine). I used the paint brush tool with a brush tip of 1 pixel, hardness of 0, opacity 100%, and density 100%. but mostly I just used the paint bucket/color fill tool.
I filled areas with colors to my satisfaction, and then used the paint tool to outline areas that should be in shadow; then I used the fill tool to fill in those colors.
to make the image look less cartoony, though, I also colored the black line art to make the outlines blend in more with the color they enclosed. to do this, I used the lasso selection tool to specifically select the parts of the outline that I wanted to change colors. then I picked PSP's color replacing tool, chose black as the background color and a new color as the foreground color, and double-clicked within my lasso selection. I did this over and over with every area of outlines.
once both the fawn and the figure were complete, I had to move the fawn on top of the figure. you can do this by selecting (with the lasso tool or with the rectangle select) the figure you want to move. to make the selection conform to your figure, make sure that the background color for your entire image is specified as your current palette background color. then go to selections -> modify -> transparent color. pick "background color" as your transparent color, then hit "okay." now you will be able to drag pieces of the image over other pieces of the image.
I essentially just selected the resulting figure and dragged it over the blank template background.
I realize that this tutorial I just gave you is PRETTY WORTHLESS without screen captures of everything I just talked about. @_@ if I have time later and you're having trouble following what I wrote, I may be able to make you a full tut, but it may take some time.
Oh good god no its not a worthless tutorial. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I know it was rude to ask as I do not know you. So thank you again very much
Paint Shop Pro is ok I guess It does the job. But I wish I could get photoshop.
All I'm trying right now is to try and draw the pixel picy on the computer. You know like you did the ( The green drawing ) its taking foever ( I'm no good at drawing free hand. )

I actually did the sketching and the line art in Microsoft Paint. and I actually took screen captures of my process!

this was the beginning of my sketch in MSPaint. VERY rough in a color other than black. I just used the single-pixel pencil tool.

hope at least some of this helps though~
so if you need a little clarification don't hesitate to ask :B and good luck pixelling x3
I have did the drawen. ( Its a little big ) But I have seen in these pixel IDs some of the pixel people are bigger thatn the pic in the backround.
I still don't know how to put the pixel blank template. in the backround and put my pic on top.
And can you draw on paper for the pic in the backround ( Can you scan it in )
All I'm trying right now is to try and draw the pixel picy on the computer. You know like you did the ( The green drawing ) its taking foever ( I'm no good at drawing free hand.
And your icon amazes me even more X3
