heavens, it's been ages since I had a fresh devID. I'm gonna be a windbag about it because it turned out better than I expected.
first off, ever since I got on dA, I balked at using a self portrait. I'm kind of hypersensitive to the tendency of the insecure to glamorize themselves in drawings of their online personalities or "fursonas" or whatnot. it's a pitfall I don't want to catch me. heaven knows I'm nowhere near the most attractive person in the world.
on an aside (these two things will meet shortly), lately I've thought about Halloween costumes. not because I expect to dress up, because I haven't in years and years, but because I vaguely like the thought. and I keep thinking of dressing like a kitsune. not so hard, right? I already have the yukata (well, two now), though I'd be lacking the kitsune Noh mask and the tails (the latter easily enough obtained on eBay). good? good.
so while wrangling with this devID problem and clearing out my messages, I stumbled upon a drawing including a mask and thought of the kitsune costume. but I'm not really a fox. I've been identifying more and more lately with deer.
next thing I knew, I was designing a deer mask based loosely on the kitsune type.
so anyway, lines traced (yeah, traced, I maybe wrongly tend to think of devIDs worth less effort and it's not as though I can't do realism--see my other self portraits for example :B) and colors referenced HONESTLY (NO GLAMOR) from a photo of me wearing the yukata I bought in Japan. let's read my expression as "thoughtful" or "enigmatic" or something, rather than "dead." >_>

Sweet Mother of God! How adorable you look in this one! That mask sure adds up to it. Do you really have it, or it came right out of your imagination for the painting?
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
