this is half of the splash for the new webspace Dan and I are sharing. (this is his half, natch. )
I'm proud enough of this that I had to submit it. this is outside of my comfort range in so many ways: it features an animal, it's relatively realistically rendered, I was trying to achieve an illustration with a faux-vector look, and most of all, I limited myself to a palette of 8 or 9 colors for the wolf and blended nothing.
drawn from several references of wolves and dogs in openCanvas 2.24E. I guess I used Elements for the radial gradient and PSP for the lettering there.

My favorite part is the realistic skinfolds under the fur. Everyone these days draws wolves as sleek seamless beasts, and tends to forget that every creature has a little flab here and there, or else it's not healthy. You win. <3

I watch a lot of TV. I drink a lot of coffee, too. But you know what's really addictive? Heroin.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
